Bookkeeper Job Description

We are seeking a talented Bookkeeper to join our team and support our eCommerce operations through expert financial management. In this role, you will manage payroll processes, reconcile accounts, and maintain accurate financial records to ensure seamless business operations.

Responsibilities include handling accounts payable and receivable, submitting state sales tax reports, and managing payment tracking for clients. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide analytical support to the finance department, and assist CPAs with tax reporting. In this role, you will: 

  • Manage and execute payroll processes for clients, ensuring accurate and timely payments.
  • Handle bookkeeping duties for eCommerce clients, including reconciling accounts and preparing financial statements.
  • Submit necessary reports, such as State Sales Tax and Workers' Compensation reconciliations.
  • Process and verify all accounting transactions to maintain accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee accounts receivable, issuing late fees, rate adjustments, and necessary notifications.
  • Coordinate with subsidy programs and manage payment tracking, including receipts and required documentation.
  • Record and deposit various payment types, including cash, credit card, and ACH/e-check transactions.
  • Maintain comprehensive and organized accounting records and filing systems for all eCommerce activities.
  • Monitor and control company and property-related expenses within the eCommerce operations.
  • Input accounts payable data with corresponding invoices, manage purchase orders, and track all payments and receipts.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy and consistency.
  • Perform weekly quality assurance checks on receivables and payables to ensure timely and accurate processing.
  • Provide analytical support to the finance team to aid in strategic decision-making.
  • Review and validate vendor, utility, and operational bills associated with eCommerce functions.
  • Collaborate with the CPA for annual tax reporting, providing necessary analytical support for both company and property levels.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a related role within the eCommerce sector.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel/Spreadsheets, and Google Workspace for managing financial data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to support cross-functional collaboration.
  • Skilled in managing accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger functions.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, essential for managing eCommerce financials effectively.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to develop revenue models and perform forecasting to support business planning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing payroll processes and submitting state sales tax and workers' compensation reconciliations.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and analysis for eCommerce transactions.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain comprehensive and organized accounting records.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ability to monitor and control operational expenses and ensure financial accuracy.
