Budget Analyst Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous and strategic Budget Analyst to join our finance team in the FinTech sector. In this role, you will be responsible for developing budgets, analyzing financial data, and providing insights to support our organization's financial health and strategic initiatives. In this role, you will: 

  • Develop and Manage Budgets: Collaborate with department heads to prepare comprehensive budgets that align with organizational goals.
  • Analyze Financial Data: Examine financial records to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Conduct Cost-Benefit Analyses: Evaluate financial proposals to determine their value and impact on the organization's finances.
  • Monitor Expenditures: Track spending to ensure adherence to the approved budget and recommend adjustments as necessary. 
  • Prepare Financial Reports: Generate detailed reports and presentations to communicate budgetary insights to stakeholders.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about financial regulations to ensure that budgeting practices comply with legal standards.
  • Support Strategic Planning: Provide financial forecasts and analyses to inform strategic decisions and long-term planning.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in budgeting, financial analysis, or a related role.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities to effectively present financial information.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FinTech Experience: Experience in the FinTech industry or a strong understanding of financial technologies.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) or Certified Budgeting Professional (CBP).
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance standards relevant to budgeting.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
