Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to manage the financial operations of our real estate portfolio. In this role, you will oversee transactions, reconcile accounts, and prepare financial reports to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our financial processes.

Responsibilities include forecasting budgets, preparing investor reports, and maintaining records in cloud-based platforms. If you have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for real estate finance, this position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic industry.

In this role, you will: 

  • Financial Management: Oversee credit card and bank reconciliations, and manage accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure smooth financial operations.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare, update, and summarize monthly financial reports for real estate properties, providing key insights into performance.
  • Financial Forecasting: Develop, update, and forecast annual budgets to support the strategic goals of real estate operations.
  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile all accounts monthly, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with financial standards.
  • Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities to reduce costs and enhance operational efficiency across real estate projects.
  • Investor Reporting: Prepare quarterly reports for investors, offering a clear picture of financial performance and returns.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain the accuracy of the general ledger and prepare balance sheets and financial statements.
  • Cost Tracking: Monitor project costs to ensure accurate classification and data input for real estate operations.
  • Record Keeping: Update and maintain organized, accurate records on cloud-based platforms, including contracts, budgets, invoices, and property documents.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Professional Experience: Proven experience as an Accountant or CPA, preferably in real estate or property management.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail to ensure precise financial records and reports.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong time-management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders and provide clear financial insights.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, and other relevant financial and accounting tools.
  • Real Estate Knowledge: Basic understanding of real estate principles and terminology to align financial strategies with industry requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a CPA or equivalent.
  • Experience with property management systems or cloud-based accounting platforms.
  • Familiarity with real estate-specific financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to improve financial processes and implement cost-saving measures.
  • A proactive approach to identifying financial risks and opportunities for optimization.
