We are seeking a meticulous Underwriter to join our team and assess property insurance applications with precision and expertise. In this role, you will evaluate risk factors, calculate premiums, and make underwriting decisions that align with company guidelines and industry best practices.
You will collaborate with property managers and claims adjusters, analyze financial and statistical data, and stay informed of regulatory updates to ensure accurate and competitive policy recommendations. In this role, you will:
- Conduct Risk Assessments: Evaluate insurance applications for real estate properties, identifying potential liabilities and risk factors.
- Underwrite Policies: Make informed decisions to approve, modify, or decline insurance applications based on underwriting guidelines and risk evaluations.
- Calculate Premiums: Determine appropriate insurance premiums by analyzing property value, location, coverage needs, and market factors.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with property managers, claims adjusters, and other professionals to identify risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Analyze Data: Utilize financial and statistical data to assess property risks and identify emerging trends in the real estate market.
- Communicate Decisions: Provide clear, concise risk assessments and policy terms to clients and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and understanding.
- Stay Current with Industry Trends: Monitor developments in property insurance regulations and industry practices to refine underwriting approaches.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Professional Experience: Proven experience as an Underwriter or in a related role within the property and casualty insurance sector.
- Insurance Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of property insurance principles, underwriting guidelines, and risk assessment processes.
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical abilities to assess risks, evaluate data, and make well-informed decisions.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with insurance software and data analysis tools.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey risk evaluations and policy details to clients and team members.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced certifications such as CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) or ARM (Associate in Risk Management).
- Experience working with complex real estate portfolios or high-value properties.
- Familiarity with property management software and emerging insurance technologies.
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments and evolving industry demands.
